Brevard County Schools Grades
Each year, the Florida Department of Education assigns schools a grade — A through F — based on how well their students performed on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test in reading, math, writing and science.
School grades are calculated based on annual learning gains of each student toward achievement of Sunshine State Standards, the progress of the lowest quartile of students, and the meeting of proficiency standards.
The grades determine which schools receive bonus money and which are penalized. Schools earning an A grade or improving a letter grade earn bonuses of $75 per student, which is usually paid to teachers. Schools that repeatedly earn poor grades face sanctions. Districts and the state are not assigned an overall grade.
