Importing Data

Caspio Bridge lets you import data to your account in a number of formats:

Compress large files in ZIP format for faster upload.

To import data:

  1. Select Import Table from the File menu, or in Tables view click the Import button.  This brings up the Table Import Wizard.

  2. Select your file format.  For text files, further identify file properties.  Click Browse to find and select your import file.  Click Next.

  3. Allow enough time for your file to upload to the Caspio Bridge server.  Additionally, Caspio Bridge servers need to open and analyze your file.  If the file is successfully uploaded and its format is recognized you will see a list of table(s) found in your file.  Select the desired tables and from the options provided on the right choose the appropriate action.  Click Finish.

  4. Next you will see a report of your import.

Text files are the least-desired import file formats because they cannot contain field data type information.  If possible, import your data in one of the other formats.  Caspio Bridge assigns a Text (4000) data type to all fields in tables imported as text files, unless you choose to appended or replace an existing table.

Only XML files previously generated by Caspio Bridge can be imported.  XML files from other sources are not supported.

Tables with non-English characters – To import tables containing non-English characters encoded in UTF-8 the table data must be in one of the following formats:

It is important to note that UTF-8 is not supported in text files (comma separated or tab delimited), and UTF-8 encoded characters are not supported in:

Appending Data – If you select to append imported data into an existing table all data in the destination table is preserved.  Any field in the imported table that is not present in the source table is added to the destination table.

Replacing Tables – If you choose to replace an existing table with an imported table, please note that your existing data will be lost.  The structure of the destination table is preserved and the new data is appended to the blank table.
